Although annexed into the City of Charleston, Daniel Island is actually a part of the Berkeley County. Students who live here are part of the Berkeley County School District public school system. There are three schools on the island. Daniel Island Academy is a private preschool for pre-K, The Daniel Island School is a public elementary school for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, and Bishop England High School includes students in 9th-12th grade. Bishop England, or sometimes referred to as B.E., is Charleston’s private Catholic high school and is located just across the street from the park at Etiwan Park on Seven Farms Drive. The high school students who live on Daniel Island that attend public school currently attend Hanahan High School. However, a new high school is being built closer to Daniel Island and may pull students there. To keep education going outside the classroom, a branch of the Berkeley County Library is located near Smythe Park next door to The Daniel Island School.
