The final picture of my DIY wooden valance for my sons nautical nursery.
To recap- I purchased 1 piece of wood from Lowe's had them cut it to the correct length to save time. Then I selected the stain which ended up being to flat on the raw wood. So I incorporated some paint to add texture and diluted the wood stain.
Keeping with the sailing theme the wood is suspended from boat cleats and rope. **very important I had to find a beam in the ceiling to attach the cleats to so it would sturdy.
Designing custom nurseries is a passion of mine and part of my design work.
However, I have had clients gain inspiration from: http://www.diynetwork.com
This was a fun, inexpensive DIY project that I think makes a great statement in his room. I hope you like my rustic raw wood valance!
