Why we chose Hamlin Plantation
One of the main reasons my husband and I wanted to move to Mount Pleasant (from Mass) is what it has to offer for kids of all ages. I remember when we were visiting our friends that lived in Park West (Mt Pleasant) I was in shock of all the kids playing outside. At the time, we were visiting we did not have kids but I knew this is where I wanted them to grow up! As our friends drove us through the different subdivisions it was the same theme: kids outside having FUN. It really made me smile because it reminded me of my childhood and my parents yelling out the window to come in for dinner and I keep saying, “just five more minutes.”
Sadly, in Mass even though our neighborhood was populated with kids there were very rarely outside. I never understood why- even in the summer we would only see a few kids riding their bikes. I remember one day, driving to work very early and seeing all the kids out at the bus stop. I was in shock at how many actually lived in the neighborhood, where were they all hiding? That is when I had the thought Mt Pleasant here we come!
After renting in Park West we settled in Hamlin Plantation! I couldn’t be more thrilled, our 2.5 year old plays with our neighbors kids next door. Riding the bikes up the driveway like I always envisioned! We are always outside either walking through the neighborhood or at the pool. Another amazing point most of the subdivisions have pools. Driving a golf cart down to the pool, going for a morning swim and coming home for lunch – does it get better than that?
This year we were invited to a neighborhood bbq in Hamlin Plantation ( in Waverly subsection) there were so many families out it was amazing. Everyone knew each other and all the kids were having a blast running around. It really is a tight knit community and we all look out for each other. It is such a throwback to the way I grew up I thought my children would never be able to experience it until we moved to Mount Pleasant.
I encourage those looking to move to Mount Pleasant to drive through all the subdivisions as each one has its own unique flavor. For us moving to Hamlin Plantation was the best move for our family. If you are interested in Hamlin there are 14 houses on the market as of June. Happy neighborhood hunting!
