I moved to South Carolina April 2017 from Illinois. When I told people about the possibility of moving to South Carolina I most commonly heard: "Why South Carolina?" I normally answered : "because I am sick of winter" I lived in Illinois all my life and wanted to live somewhere where the winters are more mild. In South Carolina snow is rare, so much so if any falls the town shuts down. In Illinois if it snows nothing closes. Not stores, not roads and not schools (at least not when I was still in school). Of course there is a lot more to South Carolina then the weather. This is an area rich with history. It was the first state to secede from the Union on December 20, 1860, it survived Hurricanes, Fires and Earthquakes. Every day feels like a vacation with all the beaches and historical places to visit. So why South Carolina? Why not!
