Why do smoke detectors always go off in the middle of the night?
So the other night I am in a deep sleep when all of a sudden I hear that dreaded beep coming from the smoke detector. So what do I do, I just lay thinking to myself that it is going to stop. Well, guess what another few minutes goes by and what happens, another beep At this point I realize that we are going to have to get up at 3am in the morning. So we get up and of course have to go outside to get the ladder because there is no other way to change the batteries with 9 ft ceilings. The next dilemma is to figure out which smoke detector is beeping. Needless to say there are 3 smoke detectors on the same floor; so you think you figure out which one it is, so you get on the ladder, unhook the wire, take out the battery out and a few minutes later what happens another dreaded beep. It always seems like if you have one smoke detector that starts beeping you always seem to have another one that follows. At this point we were so sick of hearing the beeps that we removed all of the batteries from the detectors on the second floor and back to bed it was good thing I don't have any problems going to sleep. So the next day we replaced all of the batteries in all of the smoke detectors, so that we should get at least another year before we have to be woken by beeping smoke alarms in the middle of the night.
If anyone can answer this question for me I would greatly appreciate it. ¦Why do they always have to go off in the middle of the night????
