Turtle Update – Loggerheads and Kemp’s ridley

As you may know, I love going to our wonderful Aquarium here in Charleston.  It is more fun when we go after-hours (drinks and food served).!  This time I spent a lot of time in the Turtle Hospital (Sea Turtle Care Center) area.  It is always interesting to see the new rescues and hear their story.  Today I want to show you Peach, Jerry and Caretta (at left).

Peach is an adult female Kemp’s ridley turtle. She was Lucky to have run into a random marine-life sampling in the shipping canal (June-2017).  She was going to die as she had swallowed fishing line and now it was tearing into her stomach.  She is recovering and here she was swimming all around after the surgery went into her groin area by her flipper.

Jerry is a sub-adult male Loggerhead.

He was found May 22, 2017, in the shipping canal as well.  He was brought in because he had an old strike in the middle of his back from a boat.  He was triaged and patched up after making sure he could use all his limbs.  He is swimming around using all limbs now and things are looking up for Jerry.

Happy Birthday Caretta (First Picture above), on Sunday August 20 2017.  She will be 30 years old.  She is always a joy to watch or find in the Main Aquarium there. If you are not aware, Caretta was taken by a family from the beach after hatching.  She was a pet for some time and then she was too big to keep, so Caretta was handed over to the Aquarium.  She will never be able to be in the wild as she is too domesticated to be able to survive.

Check on the aquariums website for any updates on these wonderful animals.

I hope this was interesting to you.  I am here also to provide top notch Realty Service.  Please check out my Reviews on my website at  Let me know if you are interested in Buying or Selling.  I would be happy to help you out.
