Turning Power on at a Vacant Home
There may be some challenges to turning on electric at a property that has been vacant for over 6 months with no power on during this time.

You will need to make sure before the inspector comes out that there are no electric outlets that are exposed and must have all the light fixtures intact or capped off so that no wires are hanging out. They are also going to check to make sure that there are smoke alarms were there need to be… must have one in every bedroom, one on every level and outside each sleeping area. Once the inspection is completed and passed you are then able to call the electric company to turn the power on.
Before the electric company comes out to turn the power on you will need to make sure the power is off at the main breaker box, make sure there are not locked gates if the meter is in a gated area and free of dogs.
