To HOA or Not To HOA
Do You Want a Neighborhood with an HOA?
When you are ready to purchase a home, make sure to find out if there is an HOA (homeowners association) or not. Always ask your agent. If there isn't an HOA, then you can do just about anything. IF you do have one, there will be certain things that are expected. Make sure that you read over everything before you agree to purchase a property. You need to be sure you can live with the rules. When you purchase a home in an HOA there are certain things you agree to, I.E. keeping your yard clean and cut, keeping your home clean on the outside, possible restrictions on vehicle parking. Also, remember that the HOA company can change. Some companies may enforce the rules more than others. Be educated and prepared.
Now, some people think that HOAs are a bad thing. They say things like, "No one is going to tell me what I can do on my property" or, "I'm not paying a yearly fee". Keep in mind that not all HOAs are CRAZY!! Some are more strict than others. Remember too that the HOA rules are in place to help keep the values up in the neighborhood. They are not always a bad thing.
So remember, when you are ready to purchase your home, ask about the HOA. And CALL ME!!! I will help you through the whole process.
