Tips for getting prepared for winter
With the nights getting colder it is just a reminder that the winter months are fast approaching. Although we do not get too many super cold nights it is always better to be prepared. Here a few tips winter tips that I would like to recommend.
Now is a good time to check if you have a crawl space or pipes on exterior walls to make sure that you do not have any pipes that are exposed. You would want to make sure that these pipes are covered with an insulator, this is very inexpensive but will save a ton if money from a pipe that could burst.
During the winter months you will want to make sure that your garden hose is disconnected from the faucet. I would also recommend that you make a very small investment into a hard faucet cover these can be purchased at most local home improvement stores for less than $3. These will go fast if the temperatures are supposed to drop pretty low so I would recommend picking these up early. They can be used over and over again and do not take up any space.
This is also a good time to change your furnace filters. These are the life blood of you HVAC system so it is very important to change these frequently throughout the year.
It is always a good reminder that when you turn your clocks back it is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. That way you will not get that annoying beep in the middle of the night. This does not have anything to do with getting ready for the cold, just a good tip.
If you are looking to buy or sell I would love to help.
