If you are looking for something new and interesting to do to kick off the first weekend of Summer, than you are in luck. Charleston Carib-Fest is finally here and the timing couldn't be more perfect, because nothing says summer like the colorful and vibrant Caribbean culture and the relaxing/upbeat sound of Reggae music! This is a must see event for all for all folks, from the Old Village Mount Pleasant, to the Islands and anyone looking for a good time in the Charleston area. Saturday, June 24th is Carnival Day of the festival and the bulk of the events will be held at Brittlebank Park off of Lockwood Blvd, downtown. Come get a taste of fun and colorful Caribbean culture at Brittlebank Park off of Lockwood Blvd. This Saturday starts off with a bang as the Carnival Street Parade marches through the city, beginning on John Street at 4PM and ending at Brittlebank Park where the rest of the festivities are located. This event features many live performances including many international Reggae artists, Soca and Dancers. There will be plenty of vendors serving authentic Caribbean cuisine and beverages throughout the evening. Caribbean games, crafts and children's events will keep your young ones busy so we encourage you to bring your children to this event. This event costs $10 and is free for children 12 and under. Coolers are forbidden but blankets, tents, chairs are allowed. This event goes from 5-11pm, but the party doesn't stop there.
