Spring is well underway here in the Lowcountry. Take a stroll through downtown Charleston or Mt. Pleasant to see beautiful planters overflowing with flowers and gardens filled with hydrangeas, pittosporum, roses, and moss draped oaks. You can smell the confederate jasmine in the air everywhere you go. Folks are taking advantage of the beautiful weather and spending more time on their porches and piazzas.
Porches in the Lowcountry tend to be big and inviting. Ideally facing south in order to catch the breeze. Some of the lowcountry’s best porches can be found the neighborhood of I’On in Mt. Pleasant. I’On is a very friendly walkable neighborhood with sidewalks, parks and lots of porches designed to promote outdoor living and neighborliness. Porches are deep and often close to the sidewalk, making it easy to visit with your neighbors out for a walk or host a gathering for friends.
One of my favorite homes in I’On has three levels of wonderful porches facing south overlooking Maybank Green AND it’s for sale!
Take a walk through I'On and find your dream porch! Happy spring!
