Moving to Summerville SC Part 9 Day Trips
Moving to Summerville SC Part 9 – day trips
With the 3 day weekend coming up I started to think of what day trips we could take – sort of mini vacations – to make the most of the 3 days. Of course, if we actually took 3 day trips I would probably need at least a week long vacation to recover!
- Hilton Head is 90 miles from Charleston and it has something for all ages. First class golf courses, great beaches and award winning restaurants – according to Tripadvisor The Jazz Corner is the best restaurant.
- Beaufort SC is a 70 mile drive from Charleston and very close to Savannah GA. It has a quaint waterfront town with historic homes and also known for its amazing Southern cuisine.
- Columbia SC is the capitol of South Carolina. Besides the historical homes there is the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens (definitely a place to check out!) and the University of South Carolina.
- Savannah GA – I have only been there once but I fell in love with Savannah. With many popular festivals, ghost tours and fantastic restaurants – its definitely worth the drive….you might even want to turn it into a 2 day “day trip”.
These are just some suggestions – of course with everything the Charleston has to offer, you could just do day trips around Charleston!
I’m curious as to what your favorite day trips are. We moved from Wisconsin to Connecticut during Labor Day weekend years ago. My family decided to take a day trip to Mystic CT because we heard how quaint it was. Little did we realize until we got stuck in a huge traffic jam – how many other people had the same idea! It was beautiful and charming but not sure it was worth the headache of getting back home.
Countdown has begun for our house – only 45 more days and we will be official residents of Cresswind at The Ponds in Summerville!
