Moving to Summerville SC Part 16 - Journey Has Ended!
We closed on our home and it was painless (at least the closing part was) – we had a very efficient closing attorney Harvey & Vallini, LLC so there were no last minute hassles.
This past week has been crazy! Building the home was easy compared to moving in after being in storage for over 8 months. Thank goodness for a son & son-in-law who came to help along with my husband who now has been using a heating pad for the past few days!
How did the actual move go? Fairly smoothly – we lost one glass table top which is around $130 to replace and one salad bowl. Not bad for having packed up everything myself. I do recommend anyone doing their own packing to buy the right materials and not use grocery store boxes. I ordered a good supply of packing paper from Home Depot and bought boxes there and at U-Haul….well worth the expense.
Now back to the move and the “bumps” – the night before the move the appliance company where we bought the refrigerator, washer/dryer and wine cooler called and told us that we would get the washer and dryer right away but they had received the wrong refrigerator and wine cooler was broken so they had to re-order. They lent us a refrigerator and the correct refrigerator was delivered yesterday. The window blinds/shades were installed but one shade was missing so they had to re-order (still missing as of today). The handyman I had “hired” never showed up so the fans and pictures are still in boxes and finally the cable tv isn’t working quite as it should but its working. All in all, things are good and we keep on smiling.
We love the house and area we are in Cresswind of Charleston. Everyone at Kolter Homes (the builder) were kind and helpful on moving day with our last minute questions and glad that our journey is almost over. Do you have any “horror” stories on moving because I’m pretty sure we were very fortunate that nothing drastic happened to us? I look forward to hearing about them.
