Now that the dust has settled and the oceans/creeks have returned to their normal levels, we can start focussing on moving forward while keeping Hurricane Irma in our rear view. She came, she saw and she conquered and in return, left Mt. Pleasant  and the Old Village in some of the worst shape the area has ever seen. Streets flooding, Fallen trees and power outages plagued the Old Village of Mount Pleasant during the events of Irma leaving many locals wondering when the last time they've seen this much flooding devastation.   Limbs blocking streets,  unaccessible vehicles and collapsed trees on roofs were just a few more issues that resulted from the chaotic weather. Shem Creek water levels reached record highs leaving those who know the Creek in awe and disbelief.  Not only were the Shem Creek parking lots completely under water, but the dock itself was totally submerged which created a terrifying sight to see.  The inevitable news and  hype up to the Irma failed to create widespread panic as many locals have grown accustomed to the proper preparation and mindset to handle such adversity. Over the past 30 years, Charleston has been tested time and time again, but Hurricane Irma has helped reassure our citizens that we will remain strong and that we can triumph through the most vicious winds and rains that may come our way!
