September is the peak of hurricane season, and as you have heard the tropics are starting to heat up.  As we watch Irma in the Atlantic now is not the time to worry but it is the time to get prepared.

Don't wait until the last minute to prepare a supply kit and get a plan into place. Last October when Matthew decided to head for Charleston, grocery stores, gas stations and any place you could get water were packed and out of the basic necessities  It is better to be prepared than to panic

Here is a list of some supplies that should be in the supply kit:

  • Water (at least one-gallon person per day), Non-Perishable and easy to prepare food, should have enough for 3 days for each person, and also food and water for all pets and supplies.
  • Baby supplies
  • Battery operated Flashlight and if possible extract set of batteries
  • Medication and medical items (should have at least a 7-day supply, first aid kit
  • Personal hygiene items, sunscreen, bug spray
  • Emergency contact list, copies of personal documents
  • Extra clothing, rain gear, blankets
  • Cell phone and charger
  • Extra cash

There are a variety of weather alert apps that can be down loaded to your phone to be prepared.  In case there is a weather emergency in your area

You will also want to take all the precautions to protect your home from any un-necessary damage   Make sure all items are secure and tree limbs and branches are trimmed   You may also want to call your insurance company to make sure you have the proper amount of coverage.  Always best to have a plan of action and be safe.

Please feel free to call me with any real estate questions.
