Historic Downtown Summerville Flowertown Festival
I've decided to create a new blog topic that I'm calling "Family Time, Your Time". During this series of blogs, I'm going to focus on things that may be happening in the lives of a family or individual, stuff you can relate to or fun events and activities we can all take part in. So, let's dive right into one of my favorite events of the year!
The Flowertown Festival is held every Spring in historic downtown Summerville, SC. Not only is Summerville known as the "Birthplace of Sweet Tea", there are a variety of events in the historic district every year. Held in Azalea Park and the surrounding Main Street area, the Festival is home to over 200 selected artists, awesome food at The Taste, carnival rides for the kids, a Farmers Market on Friday and Saturday, free parking and free admission! This year I really enjoyed walking through the Artists area with my wife Brandy to find new goodies for our home! Oh, and I can't forget, the "Boxcar" sandwich from Boxcar Betty's that I really enjoyed made with fried chicken, pimento cheese, peach slaw, house pickles and spicy mayo...yummy! Look out for the 2018 Festival sometime in late March/Early April and don't forget to check out the Town of Summerville's calendar for lots of fun stuff going on!
Not only is this area a great place to check out community events, it's a wonderful place to live, work or play! Most of the homes in the area date back many years, some all the way into early to mid-1800's. The neighborhood has a great feel of old homes, beautiful oak trees and the ability to walk to boutique shopping, neat restaurants, and bars. One of my favorite places to eat and visit is The Icehouse or Upstairs at the Icehouse. If you're looking for great food at a reasonable price, to hang out in the outside courtyard or visit their bar upstairs this is the place for you!
If this sounds like an area you would enjoy, we offer a variety of homes to choose from in the area within walking distance. One way to find properties is to search for them here!
