Go Greek This Week!
You don't need to pledge a fraternity or sorority to go Greek this weekend! So join us for the 47th annual, Charleston Greek Festival, located at the Greek Orthodox Church of Holy Trinity, on 30 Race Street in downtown Charleston. This epic, 3 day event begins on Friday May 12th and ends on Sunday May 14th. Indulge in Greek culture with wine tastings, beer, Greek inspired live music, dance performances and of course, all the Greek food and pastries you can eat! The festivities begin on Friday at 5pm with wine tastings, blessing of the festival, live music and dance performances. Don't miss the opportunity to go behind the scenes of this gorgeous church with up-close and personal tours at 6 and 8pm. The festivities continue on Saturday from 11am-10pm and Sunday 12:00-6:00pm. These days feature even more scheduled church tours, live music, dance performances, wine/beer tasting, shopping and crafts. Don’t forget to check out all the vendors offering various Greek inspired clothing, jewelry, specialty items and crafts. There will also be henna tattoos and plenty of children-friendly activities, so bring the whole family along. Parking downtown can be a little crazy so make sure to take advantage of the free parking and transportation services that will be provided every day. This cherished event gives you a unique opportunity to step out of the box and absorb some Greek culture in the city we love. Plus, who doesn't love gyros, spanakopita, lamb, chicken baklava, finikia and all the delicious Greek pastries? The cost is only $5 for adults and $3 for seniors/students. Veterans and children 12 and under get in free, as well as all moms on Mother's Day! Click here for more details and event schedules.
