Get Out on a Boat Even if You Don't Own One!
As the heat rises this summer, being on the water in any way you can
The Lowcountry offers a multitude of boating options, whether it is a big charter or small rental, or even a powerboat versus a sailboat; everyone’s needs can be met by the various companies in our area. The company Open Angler, for example, not only offers inshore charter trips for a fixed rate but also offer individual powerboats (at various sizes and prices) for individual rentals. The price of the individual rental depends on the size of the boat and the amount of time you want to spend out on the water, but all you need to get out there is a valid driver’s license proving you are over the age of 18 and the money necessary for your rental. On the other end of the spectrum, sailing can be a very relaxing and different way to enjoy our waterways.
Companies like Palmetto Breeze, for example, offer different types of charters on their 100 person catamaran, including things like Margarita Mondays. In addition, the vessel can be chartered privately (this is admittedly not a very cheap option, however). Other charters can be more tailored to your interests; sunset cruises, dolphin sighting, and Charleston Harbor
Being out on the water is one of the best ways to stay cool in the Lowcountry and hopefully getting on a boat seems a little less daunting now to those of us who aren’t lucky enough to have a boat already. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
