Downsizing Made Easy
Even though I’m an SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialists), and happen to be considered a Senior….I was still a bit overwhelmed when downsizing recently. I knew I needed to follow what I’ve learned when it comes to moving to a smaller space. I want to make your move easier and help you with what I have learned.
STAY ON TASK
Have a specific timeline and don’t put things off
PLAN WITH THE SPACE YOU WILL BE MOVING INTO
Are you going to need all the furniture you have? When downsizing sometimes it is better to get rid of furniture and bigger items before the move.
What can you give to kids?
What can you sell?
What can you donate?
I also learned boxing up items and put special colorful tape as to what room it goes into will help the movers place them in your new house or apt. Ask friends to save boxes, and you can get free boxes from Grocery Stores, Office Supply, and even big box stores like Lowes. If you hire a moving company sometimes they will give you boxes.
As an SRES, I have contacts with different business partners that can help you in the moving process such as house cleaners, movers, agents in the new area you may move to.
And my job is to help you on either end, whether buying or selling. As a bonus when I list your home, we will do room-to-room staging as you progress in your packing and decluttering. I have my Staging Professional License to help in that process.
Did you know if you are thinking of one the Senior Housing Communities that the average age in most is as young as 55 some are 60-65 to qualify to buy?
I’m here to help you with your move, call me for more detailed moving information and for a Free Market Analysis of your home.
