Clemson Soccer Playing in Charleston!
I, for one, know where I will be this Sunday afternoon.
Clemson University Men’s Soccer team will be playing regular season champions and number one seeded Wake Forest in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Final! After many years of ball boy service while growing up in TigerTown, I was elated to fine out that my favorite team would be playing in Charleston! Kick off will be at 2:00 this Sunday, November 13 at MUSC Health Stadium on Daniel Island.
This will be the seventh trip to the ACC Championship for the Tigers, who also had an eight year string of topping the ACC from 1972-1978 before the tournament was established. The Demon Deacons are making their fifth trip to the finals, looking for their first conference championship since 1989. Clemson had a 1-0 regular season win over Wake Forest at home on September 30.
Fourth seeded Clemson squeaked by eighth seeded Boston College in the 88th minute while second seeded Wake Forest defeated third seeded Louisville in extra time Wednesday night to compete for an automatic bid to the NCAA Soccer Championships. The ACC currently has eight teams ranked in the top 25, more than any other conference.
This year’s ACC Tournament Championship is hosted by MUSC Health Stadium, home of the Charleston Battery, and will be broadcast by ESPNU. General admission for adults is $10 with kids under 18 admitted free! Students of ACC schools are also admitted free with valid college ID.
