Your phone is smart, is your house?
Think about everything your phone can do, sign legal documents, measure square footage, be used as a leveling tool, it can almost replace your computer and really expensive camera, but do you know what your smart phone can do for your home? There are now Nest thermostats, home security apps, and much more. Many new home buyers are actually expecting homes to be smart homes and appraisers are having to learn to appraise them as such. When two homes are sat side by side, exact replicas, and the buyer is asked to choose one, they will choose the smart home over the non-smart home almost every time.
What constitutes a smart home and is it overused like term green homes? If a home is deemed a smarty pants house, it has to have says CNET, the online consumer technology news site: "network connected products for controlling, automating and optimizing functions such as temperature, lighting, security, safety or entertainment, either remotely by a phone, tablet, computer or a separate system within the home itself."
The basis is, everyone is always looking for the next best thing to upgrade their home with. What makes is stand out from their neighbors house and what makes the next seller want to buy their house and not the neighbors. Also, what makes the consumers life easier. We all want easier. Jump on the bandwagon, after all, it's easier there!
