The Air Force Base is located off Dorchester Road in North Charleston and about 30 miles from downtown Charleston, the beaches on Isle of Palms or Sullivans Island or about an hour away from Folly Beach. Shopping and restaurants are close by and access to the Charleston airport, to the Tanger Outlet Mall, to I526 and I26 is a very short drive away.
Closest neighborhoods, among others, with homes starting at 150K and upwards off 500K are: Indigo Fields, Kings Grant, Indigo Palms, Wescott Plantation, Charleston Park, Windsor Hill, Pepperidge, Appian Landing, Marsh Hall, Eagle Run, Taylor Plantation and several others. Most neighborhoods offer amenities such as a neighborhood pool, playground, biking trails and tennis courts.
The Naval Weapons Station is located at Red Bank Road in Goose Creek. The drive from here to d'town Charleston, and to the beaches is about 40 min. Shopping and restaurants is not far from here either. Cypress Garden, a beautiful nature preserve and public park is very close by. Closest neighborhoods, among other, with home prices starting at $125,000 and upward to 500K are Tanner Plantation, St James Estates, Medway Landing, Sedgefield, Harbor Lake, Crowfield, Sophia Landing, Longleaf and many others. Again, many of those neighborhoods offer amenities.
Of course, schools are always a big consideration when making the choice which neighborhood you like to make your home. I will write a brief summary in my next blog. In the meantime, there is a good amount of information about the Fort Dorchester II and Goose Creek area schools online.
