My favorite place to sit and relax after dinner, watch the sunset, and check out the shrimp boats is the Park at Shem Creek. Sometimes I just stop by after dropping the kids off at school to breath in the wide open marsh and charge the batteries for the day.
Shem Creek Park opened in October of 2012 with a free parking area and restrooms at the start of 2,200 feet of wide open boardwalk. Just completed are the 250 foot public float as well as a walkway and ramp that provide access from the mouth of the creek to Coleman Boulevard at the Shem Creek Bridge.
If walking beside the water is not wet enough for you, paddle board and kayak rental is available adjacent to the walkway and a boat landing is located just upstream. The park is open from 5 a.m. to midnight daily.
