The Catering Conundrum
One of the most important aspects of a wedding is the catering menu. What will they serve? Will it be enough food? Will it be a sit down dinner or a buffet? Will it be delicious or will the chicken be dry?
Out of everything I had to plan, the catering was the most overwhelming. First of all, you can expect the catering to be roughly 40% of your entire budget. It is the largest overall expense, and quotes in the Charleston area are staggering. I received estimates from eight different vendors, one of which took up 85% of my wedding budget. Needless to say, that vendor was not chosen!
I wanted a great menu that had something to offer everyone coming to my wedding. We have family coming in from New England and the Pacific Northwest, so we wanted a wide variety for our guests to enjoy. Hamby Catering was the vendor I chose to move forward with. You certainly get what you pay for with this company! Our catering menu will include chicken, beef, shrimp, and biscuits. Stay tuned for next week's blog in the series, as I review the catering menu after our taste testing this weekend!
