Revitalization of West Ashley

Loving West Ashley the way I do, I'm so excited to see the small changes starting to take place as a result of the $70,000,000 revitalization plan being implemented into the West Ashley area of Charleston. The revitalization comes after many years of talking about it and now, well now, we're getting some traction!
A mew aquatics center is being talked about for the West Ashley area and some wonder if it will do for West Ashley what Charleston Place did for downtown a generation ago.
Mayor Tecklenburg announced July 25, 2016 that West Ashley would be getting a farmers market at Ackerman Park offering fresh, local produce as well as a great place to greet and socialize with neighbors. Well it's off and running and participation has been great.
Recently Whole Foods named Whole Foods for their 2nd Charleston area store going in along Hwy. 17.
The redeveloped Westwood Plaza, at the corner of Sam Rittenberg Blvd., and Ashley River Road will be anchored by a 53,000 square-foot Harris Teeter. As part of the redesign, T.J.Maxx will reopen September 29th with 25,240 square-feet.
Finally, some much deserved attention to lovely West Ashley! Wouldn't you say?
