Sullivan’s Island is a relatively small Island in size and does not have a whole lot of commercial activity on it in comparison to the rest of Charleston's surrounding areas. It does however have a very impressive restaurant scene given its stature. Whether you are craving, southern BBQ cuisine, Burgers, Pub food, Mexican, Seafood, Traditional American, Italian or a cafe sandwich, Sullivan’s Island has got what you need. Obstinate Daughter has a great menu full of traditional American, Italian and seafood options and is easily one of the top restaurants on the Island. It is a little bit on the pricey side but worth checking out for their atmosphere and eclectic dining options. Sullivan’s Restaurant is very decent as well giving off a very charming vibe while providing foodies with southern-american and seafood options at fair value. Home Team BBQ is one of the Island's most popular spots to grab lunch, dinner or a cocktail after the beach and has an excellent menu full of BBQ options. They have great Pulled pork/chicken, wings, nachos, mac n cheese as well as their famous Gamechanger cocktail that's definitely worth tasting. Poe’s Tavern, named after Edgar Allen Poe is easily the most popular restaurant on the Island. They have a great beachy feel with excellent burgers and beers. Their menu is not very large but they do everything they serve well and can easily compete with some of the best burgers in the area. High Thyme is a good option as well if you are in the mood for some local seafood dishes or Traditional American entrees. I'm not overly impressed with their restaurant's prices but they have great service and never seem to disappoint. The Co-Op Grocery and Deli is one of the more underrated establishments on the Island serving delicious sandwiches to grab and go or dine in. They don't have the largest menu either but their prices are fair and the sandwiches will always leave you satisfied. Dunleavy's is a cool spot where a lot of locals go mostly to drink and watch their favorite sports team but they also have very decent but predictable bar food. Taco Mamcita has a great atmosphere and a lot of great Mexican entree options but for some reason I've never been overly impressed with the food quality. They have a really attentive staff and nice margaritas but I’m way more excited about the Island's newest edition...Mex 1. They will soon reign supreme as far as Mexican cuisine as they are now taking over for the late Salts location. Mex 1’s much anticipated grand opening is today as locals will now be able to indulge in their great cocktails, amazing baja bowls, cutest bartender and the tastiest shrimp tacos on the planet. After you fill up on the delicious food the island has to offer, make sure to venture over to Beardcat’s Sweet Shop for delectable gelato...because everyone knows...you are NEVER too full to eat ice cream!
