Are your taste buds looking for a new experience? Well, take them to Pawpaw, a restaurant in downtown Charleston. Pawpaw features Southern plates by Chef Jared Rogers. Chef Rogers realized his passion for cooking at an early age and has been a Zagat 30 Under 30 recipient.
The atmosphere of Pawpaw is a blend of old and new. Seated in an ambiance of old brick walls with new touches including the use of 9 different types of wood, creates a comfortable yet sophisticated feeling while at the same time whisking you away to a time before.
The Hushpuppies and Bisque were great starters. The Hushpuppies were very flavorful and generous in size. The Oven Roasted Butternut Bisque was rich, creamy and sweet. The entree, Tomahawk Pork Chops, was beautifully placed over a potato puree. The pork was tender with a sauce that enhanced its flavor without taking away its essence.
Then there’s dessert. The most luscious Coconut Cake. The cream filling was divine and the fresh raspberries added a touch of
Pawpaw - we will certainly be returning soon.
