The 2017-18 school year is in full swing as Orange Grove Middle School begins its first 9-weeks with a full complement of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! The majority of students attended the award winning Orange Grove Elementary Charter School, and continue to achieve at the next level. To learn about how to attend Orange Grove Charter School click the link to my blog post from earlier this year here.
The former Oakland Elementary School was home to the students of St. Andrews Math and Science Elementary during the construction of their new building, and is now the temporary home to Orange Grove Middle School. Plans for a permanent campus are being developed since the purchase of 7 acres of land on Ashley River Road in 2015. It is anticipated that the school may occupy the current site on Arlington Drive in West Ashley for at least three to five years as the program develops.
Curriculum includes :English and Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies
Special Areas include 9 week courses in Musical Theater, Digital Literacy, Art, Español, P.E., and STEAM.
OGCS now offers Girls Volleyball teams for all three grades through the City of Charleston League which encompasses teams from James Island to Goose Creek and from Park West to Bees Ferry. Other athletics include Cross Country, Sailing, Football, and Tennis.
With two children currently attending Orange Grove (5th and 7th), I would be happy to help you find a home within the OGECS Attendance Zone. As a Charter School, students are accepted by lottery from throughout all of Charleston County, however, Lottery Priority is given to residents of these areas of nice neighborhoods and reasonable prices.
