Moving To Summerville SC Part 2

There are many steps to take in building a home and deciding where to build that home and what needs to be done when moving to a new State. We decided to move to South Carolina – the Summerville area since it was close to our son and his family – and before making the final decision, we made sure they were okay with it.  After they gave us the “okay”, we checked the model homes once more at Cresswind at The Ponds and decided that was the place for us.

Summerville seems larger than it is…..located in 3 counties Dorchester, Berkley & Charleston.  It has a very nice historic downtown and also many of the chain stores & restaurants and not too far from the beaches. The web address for Summerville is: http://www.summervillesc.gov/ .  In addition, Charleston was just named best city in the US by US Travel and Leisure:  http://www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best/cities-in-us

While the house is being built we are staying at a house in The Bluffs at Ashley Ridge.  It not only has new construction homes but some resales priced from $250,000 to $350,000 and they have a community pool.  Very affordable and easy commute.  Within the first month of moving we went to the DMV to get our license plates– we were expecting long delays at the DMV but pleasantly surprised how quick it went. We are waiting for driving licenses until we move into our permanent home.  You can contact me with information on this subdivision or any place or land in the Charleston area.

The build process has been interesting – we signed contracts the first of March but by the time we picked out all of the options and applying for all of the permits – it was May before the foundation (slab) was poured…..as I mentioned before the 3 things I have learned so far are

1) Patience 2) Patience 3) Patience  I’ve posted a few photos of the progress so far.
