The 17th tee is one of the most scenic holes in all of golf where you can see cruise ships sail by and shrimpers rolling in after a day at sea.
The Charleston Golf course, about 10 minutes from downtown is affectionately referred to as the Muni, opened on James Island in 1929 and is a very golf friendly course. It is one of the most affordable and few walkable courses in Charleston. It is quite relaxing and has six set of tees to accommodate all levels of play.
In addition to these to there are ten other courses to choose from; all thirty minutes to an hour drive from downtown. From Kiawah to to N Mount Pleasant to N Charleston, the Holy City boasts some very impressive courses tempting even the most discriminate golfer.
If anyone questions your decision to bring those clubs just answer back, the first golf ever played in North America was documented in downtown Charleston in 1786. Scottish merchants brought the game, clubs and balls to the major bustling port. What better way to honor the sport than to play where it first began!
