The most important thing you can do for your property is to keep water out and away from the house. A great thing to do is to go out during a heavy rain and make sure that the water is being carried down to the ground and not building up underneath your house or around the base of your house.
Although most problems start outside with rain, don’t forget to check the attic. Again, making regular checks can head off a major leak by finding the smaller leak just starting in the attic.
Termites. Who wants to deal with termites and yet we do live in the Lowcountry. There are several signs of termite problems. One sign is dirt tubes that certain species build and travel inside. Another sign is termite droppings or frass, tiny tan or brown pellets. The damage itself is caused by the termites eating wood and leaving marks that look like someone has run a comb through the wood.
Well, you get the idea. Let’s keep up with our properties so we maintain the value of what they should be. It is typically the highest price item you’ll ever buy.
