Get Out the Sunglasses...because your home Sparkle and Shines!
Disassociate Yourself from your Home
I encourage my sellers to get into the mindset of "This is not my home, it’s a product to be sold.” For example, “like a soup can at a grocery store.” Ok, I know that sounds harsh, but it is important to detach in order to move in a positive direction.
It is very empowering to declutter and organize, not only a sense of relief to a seller, but for the buyer to visualize their belongings in the home. I suggest, one closet at a time, one room at a time…it is a marathon not a sprint. Think of this process as a head-start on the packing and possibly making extra cash if you sell items at a yard sale.
Make Minor Repairs
Get to that “honey do” list a little early…replace cracked floor or counter tiles, repair nail holes and add a fresh coat of neutral color paint. Repair dripping toilets, fix leaky faucets, replace burned-out light bulbs or light fixtures, fix doors that don't close properly, kitchen drawers that jam, and shampoo or replace worn carpet.
Enrich With Color & Add Curb Appeal
Curb appeal is essental, make sure trees and bushes are trimmed along with weekly lawn and garden maintenance. By simply adding a floral arrangement in a pot and a seasonal front door wreath is always inviting. This will give the home harmony and that “Welcome Home” feeling.
Make the House Sparkle
Hire or rent a pressure washer company to wash windows and screens inside and out and pressure wash the home to rid of mildew on siding and gutters. You will be amazed at the difference it will make.
