Cost/Value of a Pool
Do you know the costs of adding a pool to your home? The average cost in the U.S. to install, equip, and fill a 600-sq.-ft. concrete pool starts at $30,000.
Add in details like safety fences (most states require them), waterfalls, lighting, landscaping, and perhaps a spa, and you’re easily looking at totals approaching $100,000. Costs also depend on the type of pool you choose (granite, vinyl, fiberglass shell.)
So how do these costs weigh against the expected value? The first thing to consider is how appropriate is the pool? Does it fit the neighborhood, are you in a warm climate environment, is your lot big enough to have a pool and still have a yard or garden if you want to? If everything goes well a pool can add an average of 7% value to your house. If you’re a fellow pool lover or if you live in Charleston like myself, I would say a pool is a pretty good investment!
