CODEcamp Receives Major Update
The Charleston Digital Corridor’s CODEcamp education program has received a major update! Since its inception in 2012, the program has had over 2,000 attendees as it continues to introduce adults to web development affordably and in a convenient evening program format. Many graduates have been placed in companies locally. These graduates have been able to start new and rewarding careers and remain in their beloved Lowcountry.
The update follows an annual review of CODEcamp as it rapidly adjusts its education programs to meet the needs. Changes for 2017 include:
- Replacing the Web 101-105 class structure in favor of a quarterly, eight week Introduction to Web Development class for a cost of $495.00.
- Partnering with the JRS Coding School (previously discussed in an earlier Blog post) that offers a twelve-week “boot camp” program, CODEcamp graduates receive a discount of $500 against their tuition at JRS.
- They will also be moving to a project-based curriculum similar to the CODEcamp Kids program.
- Lastly, and very important, offering students from public education institutions a 10% discount.
As stated by Ernest Andrade, the director of the CDC, “As the only organization that offered an augmentative coding program in 1012, it is important to recognize the wonderful code and computer science education opportunities that have launched over the past few years and adjust CODEcamp to best suit the community.”
So, the CDC continues to lead in the education of local residents to enable them to enjoy an exciting and rewarding career and remain in the place they love. And, this benefits our real estate community and all residents. The local tech industry continues to benefit us all!
