CLEMSON FOOTBALL – The Cardiac Cats Lose
Well folks, after weeks of glowing blog posts about the success of our football program over the past few years, we have finally stumbled! Yes, it’s true. We lost to Pittsburg in a cliffhanger as they scored a field goal from 49 yards out with 6 seconds left in the game to win 43-42.
Pittsburg played a great game and deserved to win. Clemson played well but made some critical mistakes when it really counted. TURNOVERS! The Tigers have been plagued with fumbles, dropped passes and interceptions all season. Until Saturday, we have managed to win in spite of the miscues. Our defense has been able to bail us out of some tough situations, but not this time. They didn’t play up to standard either. They gave up a whopping 464 yards in total Pittsburg offense. That’s a bunch!
So, where does that put us? We have two regular season games remaining. If we win those, we then have to win our conference title. If we do, that should put us in the CFB playoffs (football’s Final Four).
There is a lot of football still to play and plenty of excitement. The coaches will hopefully have our guys ready to stop the turnovers and win. Turnovers are a fact of life with high energy offenses, but not to the extent we’ve managed to lose the ball at critical moments. If we hold on to the ball, we’ll be fine. If not………….
