The real estate market in Charleston continues to gain more momentum. We’re seeing record buying activity for this time of year. Real estate sales are very seasonal and we usually see a slow down in Charleston starting in September. Activity usually slows more and more until the end of February, but we saw some incredible numbers in September with hardly even a hint at a slow down. Year to date, we’re up about 6% in median sales price to $222k over this same time period from 2013. And we’re up about 6.5% in the number of transactions over 2013. We’ve all but put short sales and foreclosures behind us, but now sellers have to compete with a lot of new construction in some specific areas.
I know that I am looking forward to cooler weather and the exciting days ahead. Pumpkin and apple picking, turkey shoots, and getting the house ready for the holidays. Call me anytime and I’d be happy to give you a free market analysis of your home when it’s all decked out for the holiday!
