Candies and chocolates and ice cream, oh my!
One thing I absolutely LOVE about this area is the small town feel that Summerville offers. Yes, we are a growing community and growing at a rapid pace but there are these little unique, mom and pop shops that open up and I recently heard about a new place in Summerville on Central Ave, so I knew I had to go when I found out that….a new candy store had opened up. Immediately, I started my research…Facebook, (yes, I get a lot of my info from Facebook…. thank you Mark Zuckerburg!) And my research did not fail me… YES, the rumors are true, there is a candy/chocolate/gourmet popcorn/ice cream/yummy goodness store that has just opened and I need to go there. So, one Sunday afternoon, my daughter and I took a little trip to Simple Treasures. It is a discreet store front that is packed full of fun, with an entire shelf of quirky sodas, Maple Bacon Lollipops off to the side and rows and rows of different candy…. reminder, I took my daughter so one of us had to have some self-control and I appreciate that my little 7 year old took one for the team.
They also offer a plethora of gourmet popcorn but I was more interested in the case of CHOCOLATE! Oreo’s covered in chocolate, smores coved in chocolate, cherries covered in chocolate, pretzels covered in chocolate…I HAVE FOUND MY HAPPY PLACE!!!! I mean, this place is pretty awesome and there is a lot of, “look at this!”, “did you see that?”, “oh wow, that looks so good!” going on. We picked out some specific chocolate pieces from the glass case and had to get the little one some ice cream, (sidenote: so apparently, I am an odd person because I don’t like ice cream at all so this part was all for the kid). She chose her fav, cookie dough and I am guessing it was awesome because she didn’t speak a word and barely made eye contact from the second it was handed to her but made sure to say, (in her sweet, “mommy I want something” voice) that next time we need to make sure we get 2 or 3 scoops (seriously kid, no one needs you jacked up on 3 scoops of ice cream). Moving on….
This little gem did not disappoint and is full of treasures and provided some good quality mommy-daughter time! We are very much looking forward to our next visit and trying some of the other candies and popcorn but I’m probably going to pass on the Alien Snot soda…maybe….
Do you have a favorite restaurant or store that I can try? Let me know!!!! I’m all about discovering everything that Summerville has to offer!!!!
Until next time…. happy exploring and LOVE where you live!
