The Charleston Tri-County real estate market and home sales remain HOT. According to the latest data from the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce, there are nearly 50 people a day moving into the Tri-County area and Charleston was recently named the largest city in the state of South Carolina surpassing Columbia as the states most populous city.
That being said, it came as a surprise that according to the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, April 2017 home sales were up a modest 2.4% from April 2016 home sales, 1,514 homes changed hands last month with a median price of $248,500.00, which is up 3.7% from a year ago. All indications point to a very HOT real estate market to coincide with the HOT summer months May – August, which remain the most popular time to buy and sell real estate.
April home sales by the numbers:
Charleston County – 1,193 homes sold with a median price of $275,987 with 2,859 homes on the market.
Berkeley County – 350 homes sold with a median price of $201,987 and 1052 homes on the market.
Dorchester County – 303 homes sold with a median price of $186,320 and 703 homes on the market.
